It's been revealed that just like rival Mercedes-Benz, BMW has opted out of producing a commercial for this year's Super Bowl. While Audi just released its Super Bowl 50 commercial with the new R8 supercar, Autonews says the Bavarian automaker has decided not to follow up its hugely successful Super Bowl commercial of last year.
BMW's 2015 ad spot famously stared television presenters Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel driving the advanced all-electric i3 hatchback. The 60-second clip used archive footage of the duo asking “what is internet, anyway?” when presenting the Today show in 1994 and had them show similar confusion when driving the i3 due to its use of advanced technology and electric powertrain.
Alongside BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar is another large premium automaker that hasn't produced a 2016 Super Bowl ad, despite its range of “Good to be Bad” commercials from 2014.
