For their flagship superbike, Suzuki went back to the drawing board in order to insert even more MotoGP tech into the mix and develop a new engine capable of producing 202 PS and 13,200 rpm for the GSX-R1000 - Suzuki's most powerful GSX-R engine ever.
Both the GSX-R1000 & 1000R use this all-new 999.8cc inline four-cylinder unit with Suzuki Racing Variable Valve Timing (SR-VVT), with strong low-midrange power and a punchy top-end output boosted by the VVT tech.
The 1000R sets itself apart from the 1000 through the addition of a bi-directional quick-shifter and a launch control system which allows for smoother and faster starts, and while both models use the "anti-stoppie" function of Suzuki's Motion Track Brake System, only the GSX-R1000R benefits from its cornering ABS function.
With both models set to arrive in spring 2017, future buyers also need to know that the GSX-R1000 comes with a new, full LCD dash and LED headlights, while the R model gets LED position lights and an LED taillight at the rear. Turn signals (front & rear) are also LED. Another huge announcement from Suzuki is their brand new GSX-R series entry-level model, the GSX-R125. Thanks to its new, single cylinder 125 cc engine, the GSX-R125 is said to have the best power-to-weight ratio, best torque-to-weight ratio and best acceleration in its class. It also comes with a full LED dash, LED stacked headlight and a new keyless ignition system featuring the same easy-start tech used on the GSX-R1000 flagship. The GSX-R125 will arrive in dealerships late in the summer of 2017.
The V-Storm 650 and V-Storm 650XT will hit UK dealerships in early 2017, with both models now featuring a new exhaust as well as more power and torque, rated at 70 PS at 8,800 rpm and 62 Nm (45 lb-ft) at 6,500 rpm. Their styling now resembles that of the bigger V-Storm 1000, which packs the company's Motion Track Brake, cornering ABS system and sharper styling.
Both the V-Storm 1000 and V-Storm 1000XT models are available in black and white, as well as a new Champion Yellow, paying homage to the DR Big Dakar-racer from the 1990s. Just like the smaller V-Storm 650-series models, the 1000-Series is expected in dealerships in spring 2017.
As for the GSX-S750 (in showrooms in early 2017), it joins Suzuki's naked street bike lineup featuring the same engine architecture as the K5-unit found in the iconic GSX-R750. The new model has more aggressive styling and boasts more power and torque than the old GSR750, with peak output now at 114 PS at 10,500 rpm and 81 Nm (59 lb-ft) at 9,000 rpm.
