Most of you are familiar with the GT1 version of the Porsche 911, a road-going racing car built back in the heyday of super cars in Le Mans 24 hours to comply with the regulations calling for such a thing by the FIA. What you may now know is that Lamborhgini had had a go at creating a car like that, too. It’s called Lamborghini Diablo GT1 Stradale and the reason you may now have heard of it is probably because there’s only two of them in existence.

 

Now one of these Lamborghini Diablo GT1 Stradale models have become available for sale at an Italian dealership called Mistral Motors at an undisclosed price, and it gives us a good excuse to take a look back at this awesome creation built in 1997 in collaboration with French racing firm SAT (Signes Advanced Technology).

Just like that Porsche, the Diablo GT1 is a road-going version of a racing car which is itself based on a road car. So as you’d expect, it is very fast and very powerful compared to the standard model, and what’s more, it looks a helluva lot scarier. The Stradale features an entirely new aero kit, each bit of which is massive, and it comes with exclusive design features such as weirdest rear wing incorporating air ducts.
