Early reports claimed that the Supra would get a four-cylinder plug-in hybrid drivetrain, but now there are rumors that the Supra will receive a new Lexus engine. Japanese magazine Mag-X quoted Toyota insiders who said Lexus is developing a new engine, codenamed 943F. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with more than 400 horsepower and more than 300 lb-ft of torque would ultimately make its way into the new Supra.

This rumor makes a lot of sense. Lexus is one of the only luxury brands that does not have a forced-induction six-cylinder engine.
